The article will discuss the culture and struggles of Islamic boarding schools in the era of globalization. Based on the analysis results, it can be concluded that Islamic boarding school education should remain consistent with the primary sources of religion while broadening the horizons and understanding of the progress of the times. Among the pesantren culture that needs to be maintained are a culture of discipline, an independent culture, a culture of providing examples and giving mutual advice, and caring for the environment. These cultures are formed as a result of the habits of the santri constructed by the pesantren. This means that the position of Islamic boarding school education that must be maintained is that it remains selective, critical, and open to the emergence of globalization. An exclusive attitude or being dragged into the global current can erode the identity of Islamic education itself.
